Walter Samuel Warner

February 17, 1955 — September 29, 2021

Walter Samuel Warner passed away peacefully at his home in Nimrod, MN, on September 29, 2021. Walter was born on February 17, 1955, to Warren Samuel “Red” and Ardis Marie (Christenson) Warner in Madelia, MN. Walter had two true loves in his life: big trucks and animals, especially horses and cattle. He moved to the Nimrod area in about 1991. He drove for Can Am at that time, but hauled for other companies throughout his 40+ year career, spending his last years with Valley Express. He loved the open road, all the country he got to see, and all the people he got to meet, and befriend, along the way. There wasn’t a truck stop he frequented where they didn’t know him by his first name. In the mid 90’s Walter got to try his hand at ranching when he owned and operated the Beaver Creek Ranch east of Nimrod. He loved his time on the ranch and had many stories about it, but after a few years he found himself on the road again, and he never looked back. In the last couple years, he also started a brush cutting, mulching and stump grinding business that gave him many hours of enjoyment. He was happiest when he was busy, and happier still when he was busy helping someone else. He was a great story teller, loved his practical jokes and teasing, and he always had a big hug or a good handshake, and a piece of advice. Walter came to know Jesus better in recent years, and found a good deal of peace through his faith. He had a huge infectious smile and a big, big heart and he would never hesitate to help someone in need, friend or stranger. Walter will be dearly remembered, and sorely missed, by the people who knew him and called him friend. Walter is survived by his daughter, Lacy Marie Warner of Champlain, MN, her two sons, Aiden and Evan Warner, his sister Anne (Roger) Brenny, Pierz, MN, 5 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, the community of Nimrod and all the special friends he had in his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Ardis Warner, maternal and paternal grandparents, and his sister and her husband, Mary and Roger Warner, and a niece, Brenda Montury. Walter’s wishes were for no formal services, however, there will be a tribute to Walter at the Nimrod Hall on Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. “I’ll see ya in the movies…I’ll be the one that looks like me.” Walter Warner
