Timothy Alvin Kohrs

Timothy (Tim) Alvin Kohrs, 62, passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2021 at Vibra Hospital in Fargo ND surrounded by family. Tim was born on April 26th, 1958 in Redfield South Dakota to Marvin and Florence Kohrs. He attended school in Clark SD. He was united in marriage in 1976 to Betty Loterbauer and was blessed with two children Anthony and Samantha. On September 9th, 2001 he was united in marriage to his best friend and soulmate Brenda in Las Vegas. Tim started his career in maintenance/food processing at Chef Reddy in Clark SD. In 1987 he relocated to Park Rapids to work at Chef Reddy/now Lamb Weston-RDO Frozen. In 2005 he became employed with West Central Turkeys (Jennie O Turkey Store) where he was employed until his death. Tim enjoyed attending the Western Minnesota Steam Thrashers Reunion in Rollag, antique car shows, tractor pulls and any form of racing from NASCAR, NHRA and many of the area dirt tracks. He enjoyed drag racing for several years at Interstate Raceway’s in Sabin MN. While he enjoyed competing and winning, he more so looked forward to the race weekends with fellow drivers, family, and friends. Tim was fond of Harley Davidson motorcycles, often visiting dealerships across the country while traveling. He was also known to enjoy a round of golf and was proud of the total number of deer he had hit with his vehicles over the 15 years of commuting to work the final total was 51. Tim had a great sense of humor and was known to share his jokes, stories, quotes of the day and words of wisdom with family, friends, coworkers, or complete strangers. He always found a way to make you smile. Since 2004 Tim was the president of the Northern Plains Chapter of RETA (Refrigeration Engineers Technicians Association). Tim worked with a great group of officers, and members. They worked together as a team to make the chapter a success. The national leadership identified the Northern Plains Chapter as a role model for other chapters because of their leadership, chapter activities and commitment to education. Tim is survived by his wife: Brenda, son: Tony (Maria) Kohrs, daughter: Sam Kohrs, stepdaughters: Lauren Ohlgren and Allyson Ohlgren. Grandchildren: Tre Wolfe, Desarae Kohrs and Brayden Kohrs. Mother: Florence Hink, Brothers: Ernie Kohrs (Teresa), Kenny Kohrs, and David Kohrs. Sisters: Karla Kohrs and Sandra Reitz. Brother In-law: Dan Lent, Sister in laws: Brigitte Norlander (Dave) and Roxanne Reining (Steve) and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Special family dog Chloe. Preceding Tim in death were his father, grandparents, and a nephew. Visitation will be held on Friday May 7th at the First English Lutheran Church in Menahga MN, from 3pm to 7pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. Celebration of Life Service on Saturday May 8th at 11:00 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, visitation one hour prior to the service. Lunch will be served after the service.
