Steven Lloyd Zoellick, 73 longtime resident of Huntersville, MN, formerly of Elgin, IL passed away on March 3rd 2025.
Steven was born on July 18th 1951 in Elgin to Marvin and Shirley Zoellick. During his childhood he worked closely with his dad, Mom and siblings on different farms, milking cows, farming row crops and baling hay. He attended Hampshire Elementary and Middle School and later graduated from Dundee Community High School in 1969.
After high school he was drafted with the United States Army to serve in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he swore he would never cut his hair or shave his beard. He later became known as "Hippie". Steve was an avid dart player, and at one time was involved in a dart league where his competitive winning side would show. He had a love of motorcycles and shared that with his close family friend and roommate Bill. It was through Bill and his wife Nance where he met the love of his life, Mara. Steve and Mara were united in marriage on February 14th, 1981 and welcomed their daughter Stephanie in August. In 1985 they moved to Huntersville where they built their house together on 40 acres. There they created a small hobby farm with chickens, a cow and later horses. Hunting and fishing were some of his favorite hobbies. He would look forward to an annual fishing trip to Canada with some of his closest friends.
In the early 90's, after various jobs from trucking to carpentry, Steve met Leonard and Margaret Rydell. He started working for them, maintaining and caretaking their property on Long Lake. It was through them that he met and gained more jobs on the lake. Those jobs led to more friendships from Wes and Vivian, Randy and Deb, Brian and Mara, Greg and Jodi. All of which he treasured.
During his leisure time, Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching NASCAR, fishing, and playing guitar. He played both solo and with some of his closest friends, Mark, Rick, Randy and Ben. He was always down for any kind of card game, board game, puzzle, practical joke and especially brain teasers.
Steve is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Clayton), grandchildren: Tristan (Katie), Aiden, Bri, Addy, Kendra and Mark. His father Marvin Zoellick. Siblings: twin sister Cindy (Colin), Roger, Mary-Beth, Scott (Kadie) and Brenda. Uncle Floyd, Aunts Amelia (Tootie), Arliss, and Carol. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Steve is preceded in death by his wife, Mara, mother Shirley, sister Patsy Lee, maternal and paternal grandparents.
He will be remembered for his unique jokes, exceptional sense of humor and absolute love of playing the guitar.
