Ruth Anne Oleary

Ruth Anne (Jorgenson) O’Leary was born on August 28, 1944, the fourth child to Marlow and Dorothy (Warble) Jorgenson in Park Rapids, MN. She graduated from Park Rapids High School June, 1962. The following year in May, 1963, she graduated from Wadena Area Technical Institute after completing courses in Cosmetology to become a beautician. Ruth married Gary Albin of Sebeka in 1964 and they were blessed with three children: Dennis, Nancy and Mark. In 1991 Ruth married George O’Leary and they lived happily together in their home in Sebeka until George’s passing later that same year. Ruth enjoyed growing flowers, bird watching and driving in the country enjoying all seasons especially fall. She was an excellent cook and was always ready with a hot meal when the family came home for weekend visits. Holiday gatherings wouldn’t be the same without her homemade pies. These visits usually included a few games of Scrabble also. Another little known part of Ruth is that she played piano and taught Sunday School at the Pentecostal Church that was in Sebeka. It was there that she gave her life to Christ. 1 Peter 3:4 describes Ruth quite well - “Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” Ruth was a kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed. Ruth is survived by her siblings Marie (Rod) Nordberg, Doris (Larry) Johnson, Alice Johnson; sister-in-law Kathy Jorgenson; children Dennis Albin, Nancy Eckhart, and Mark (Christina) Albin; grandchildren James Albin, Tyler (Courtney) Schmelling, Andrea Mitchell, Gene (Jennifer) Walsh II, Ariana Walsh, Andrew Walsh; great-grandchildren Bailee, Lincoln, Londyn, Maddyn, Keenan, Cooper, Tyson, Jaxon, Lennon, Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her parents Marlow and Dorothy Jorgenson, brother Paul Jorgenson, husband George O’Leary, brother-in-law Lindy Johnson. Ruth rejoices in heaven with a host of loved ones, friends and others that have gone before. We look forward to seeing her one day. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN at a later date.
