Rudolph Ernest Ollanketo, 88, born October 11, 1930 in Marengo, WI, died from complications of Parkinson’s disease on August 25, 2019 at Green Pine Acres nursing home in Menahga, MN. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents George and Aina (Hannula) Ollanketo, his grandson Jeffrey Ollanketo, his siblings Gladys Miller, Margaret Hepokoski, Elden Ollanketo, Beatrice Wuollet, Raymond Ollanketo, Dolores Kyllonen, Paul Ollanketo, Thomas Ollanketo, Clifford Ollanketo, and two infant brothers Valentino and Wilbur. Rudy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bernice (Cooper), his children: Brian Ollanketo and Anne (David) Salmela, his grandchildren: Jodi Ollanketo, Jake (Melissa) Salmela, Emily (Jeremy) Richards, and Austin Boyum; his great grandchildren: Niklas Ollanketo, Piper Richards, Anson Richards, Harrison Salmela, Leo Richards, Annika Salmela, Jazmin McKenna, and Brooklynn Dennison; his siblings: Darlene (Frank) Carlson, James (Priscilla) Ollanketo, Katherine Nevala, and Judy (Mark) Anderson, sisters-in-law: Edna Mae Ollanketo, Dorothy Ollanketo, and Ruth Ollanketo, his brother-in-law Buddy Kyllonen; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a host of brothers and sisters in faith. Rudy graduated from Ashland, WI High School in 1949. He was married to Bernice in Menahga, MN in 1951. He served in the Air Force from 1951-1955 and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He worked as a financial manager for the Minneapolis Public Health Department and retired in 1992. In 2004, they moved from Minnetonka, MN to Menahga, where they lived until his death. Visitation will be at the Menahga Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church on Friday August 30 from 4 - 7 pm. Visitation again at the Minneapolis Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church at 14000 129th Ave N in Dayton, MN on Tuesday September 3 from 10 until the funeral service at 12 noon. Lunch will be served. Burial will follow at 2:30 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens at 5125 West Broadway in Crystal, MN.
