Rose Ellen Taylor

Rose E. Taylor passed peacefully on April 6, 2019 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home.   Rose was born on September 21, 1917 to Andrew and Selma Niemela.  Rose worked in various jobs around the state of Minnesota as well as helping on her parents farm and raising her children.  At the age of 50 Rose graduated from the nursing program at Long Beach City College in Long Beach, CA. Rose started working as an LPN at Ramsey County Medical Center in St. Paul, MN and continued working there until she retired at the age of 65 in 1983.  In her retirement Rose enjoyed blueberry picking and baking, knitting mittens for family members as well as the less fortunate and spending time with her loved ones and friends. Rose is preceded in death by her sons, Joseph and Eugene, Grandson Doug, her parents, eight sisters and one brother. Rose is survived by her daughter Lavonne (Marvin) Smith, her daughter in law Melinda Taylor, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren, her sister Lorraine, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.   Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday , April 27, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Menahga City Cemetery.
