Ramona Mae Olson

Ramona Mae Olson was born on October 28, 1930 to Frances (Zimmerman) Ellingworth and Lloyd Ellingworth, Sr. in Bluffton Township. She was brought to God in Holy Baptism and confirmed at St. Helen’s Episcopal Church of Wadena, Minnesota. She was raised and attended school in Oak Valley Township.She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Martin Olson, on December 7, 1946, at the Congregational Church of Wadena. Ramona and Martin were blessed with one son, Russell Raymond, and one daughter, Janice Mae.Ramona and Martin resided in Sebeka for five years. The family then moved to Menahga in 1952, where Martin managed Peterson-Biddick until 1972 when Ramona and Martin jointly purchased the business and renamed it “Martin’s Farm Service.” The business was liquidated in 2001.Ramona was very proud to be an Avon Representative for 52 years!She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for 67 years and a member of the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home Board of Directors; at one time holding the office of the Presidency. Ramona was an active member of First English Lutheran Church in Menahga since 1952, and served on the church council in several positions including President.She was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. She died peacefully at her home of 65 years, having reached the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 4 days.Ramona will be lovingly remembered by her family: one son, Russell and his wife Carol of Menahga; one daughter Janice Steen and her husband Jerry of Lake Wales, Florida; grandchildren: Jackie Rogahn, Jayson Rogahn, Steven Olson, Stacy Olson and David Olson; great-grandchildren: Ashley Roller, Kailyn Rogahn, Brittany Kondos, Comad Kondos III, Levi Bender, Payge Olson, Dani Mae Lehman, Masyn Olson and Ashtyn Olson; great-great grandchild, Paisley Mae Roller; nine step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Raymond Ellingworth, Sr. and wife Susan, John Ellingworth and wife Debbie, Carmen Ellingworth, and Delores Rentz; sister and brothers-in-law: Peggy Porter and husband Gerald, and Jack Carter; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Martin Olson; brothers: Warren Ellingworth, Lloyd Ellingworth Jr. and infant Norman; and sisters: Darlene Airhart, Marlyce Carter, Bernice Lorentz and infant Janet; brothers-in-law, Ray Airhart, Isadore Lorentz and Marvin Windels; sister-in-law, Eunice Windels.She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10 at First English Lutheran in Menahga and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga. Interment will be at Leaf River Cemetery, rural Wadena.
