Norma Ann (Arvola) Hillukka of Menahga, MN passed away peacefully at her home at Rose Haven Assisted Living on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the age of 90 years. She was born on May 8, 1932 near Sebeka, MN to Hjalmer and Anna (Niemela) Arvola. Norma was a willing helping hand on the family farm, from duties in the household to tending to the animals and other farming activities. Upon graduating from Sebeka High School in 1950, she moved to Minneapolis and worked at Honeywell. Some of her hobbies included traveling, gardening, hosting family and friends, visiting, shopping, cooking, and baking. Norma was united in marriage to Kenneth Roy Hillukka on December 3, 1955, in Sebeka, Minnesota. They started their life together in Minneapolis and had four children there, then purchased a farm near Wolf Lake, MN in 1958 and moved “up north” in April of 1961 where they had 10 more children. They farmed for 43 years, and the children all helped with many aspects of the farm including dairy, beef, crops, gardening, canning, and more. After Kenneth passed away in 2004, Norma moved to a house in Menahga. She then moved to Rose Haven where she has comfortably lived for the past six years, and we thank all the staff who so graciously cared for her there. Norma is survived by 13 children; Duane (Margo) Hillukka, Barbara (Richard) Laho, Pauline (Thomas) Hall, David (Laura) Hillukka, Lynne (Lyndon) Simonson, Sarah (Jon) Bloomquist, Bruce (Linda) Hillukka, Loren (Diane) Hillukka, Jean (Eric) Simonson, Randy (Katie) Hillukka, Ross (Denise) Hillukka, Timothy (Katelyn) Hillukka, and Michele (Edwin) Ruonavaara, along with 139 grandchildren, 228 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and siblings Leslie (Louise) Arvola, Kenneth Arvola, Dave (Mary) Arvola, Joyce Kotila, and Florence (Donald) Halonen.
