Nancy Jean Walz

Nancy Jean (Swanson) Walz was born on October 1, 1951 in Newman Grove, Nebraska to Earl and Lucille Swanson. In 1955, the family moved to a farm near Deer Creek, MN. Nancy attended school at the Compton Township School House and Deer Creek High School, graduating in 1969. After high school, Nancy attended Wadena Area Vocational Technical School. While attending a wedding dance in 1971, Nancy needed a partner for the “butterfly” dance and a friend said she would get one of her brothers to dance with her and that is how Nancy met Ronald Walz. At the end of the dance that is when Nancy gave Ron a kiss on the forehead. On September 9, 1972, Nancy and Ronald wed in Wadena, MN. They bought a farm north of Wadena where they raised four children: Kimberly, Brenda, Ricky and Bonnie. During her life living on the farm, Nancy assisted with feeding and milking cows. She wasn’t afraid to climb on a tractor and help. Nancy was even known to take first place in quite a few tractor pulls throughout the years. She made great friendships with every person that she met and was a vital part of the family farming business and was always available to give someone a ride. Nancy worked at Tri-County Hospital and had a large part in raising her grandchildren. Nancy was a longtime member of St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Bluegrass, Post 456 American Legion Auxiliary, the Busy Homemakers Club and the neighborhood birthday club. One of the greatest joys in Nancy’s life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special bond with all of them that can never be replaced. Nancy described her life as a journey. She was a true survivor of many of life’s challenges. This included beating cancer in 2019. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald. Children: Kimberly (Mike), Brenda (Todd), Ricky (Lisa), Bonnie (Shawn). Grandchildren: Logan (Courtney), Dustin, Collin (Cassie), Kassidy, Jaiden, Vincent, Jason, Joshua, Keith, Gavin, Kevin, Alaina, Megan, Preston, Lindsey, Annabelle, and Dena. Great-Grandchildren: Aida, RaeLynn, Heather, Jesse, Jameson. Honorary son: Tony. Brothers: Bob (Linda) and Jim. Siblings-in-law, Raymond (Mary), Rodney (Lesley), Alan (Janice), Ruth (Howard), Renee, Bernie (Linda), Kevin (Kathy), Lyle (Amy), Marion (Dewey), Curt (Nadine), Melanie, Marla (John), Amy. Many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents: Earl and Lucille Swanson, parents-in-law: Bernard and Joanne Walz, brothers-in-law: Russell and Wendell Walz, and son-in-law: Jack Dailey. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Wevley Funeral Home Sebeka, MN and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at St Hubert's Catholic Church in Bluegrass, Interment will be at St Hubert's Catholic Cemetery.
