Mitchel Hubert Schermerhorn, age 64, of Nimrod, unexpectedly passed away on May 26,2021, on the family farm. He was born April 30, 1957 to Hubert & Elaine Schermerhorn in Wadena, MN. Mitchel was raised in Nimrod, MN, baptized & confirmed at the Nimrod Lutheran Church & graduated from the Sebeka Public School. On June 12, 1993 Mitchel married his beloved wife Bethel (Chase), together they had two sons, Nicholas & Brandon. Most of Mitchel's working years were spent farming, doing carpentry work & later owned his own sheet rocking business, most recently he worked at the Northern Lights Casino in security, which he thoroughly enjoyed. As a young boy Mitchel had a pony named Sparky, that “sparked” his passion for horses but he also had a passion for dogs. Mitchel loved to hunt ,fish, trap, minnow sein & just be outdoors in nature, he also enjoyed eating out, surprising his mom with goodies & spending time with his granddaughter Morgan, she was the light in his eyes. Most of all Mitchel was a man of faith & a devoted son, husband, father & grandfather. Mitchel is survived by his mother Elaine Schermerhorn (Nimrod ,MN), wife Bethel (Nimrod MN), sons Nicholas (Wadena, MN) & Brandon of (Nimrod, MN), granddaughter Morgan (Wadena, MN), sister Lana/Matt Myers (Sauk Rapids Iowa), sisters in law: Delora(Lynnie)/Mark, Darla/Shaun, Doris(Trinket)/Greg; brothers in law: Elmer(Buck)/Robbin & Donald(DJ)/Stephanie & many nieces & nephews. Mitch was preceded in death by his father Hubert & brother Bruce. May he rest in peace in his eternal life. A celebration of Mitchel's life will be June 13 from 1-3 pm at the Nimrod Hall.
