Marilyn Kay Lapinoja

Marilyn Kay Lapinoja died unexpectedly on November 12 in Menahga MN at the age of 76. Marilyn was born to Violette and Helmer Lapinoja on December 10, 1946, in Wadena, MN. Marilyn went to country school until her completion of the 8th grade when she then continued to live with her parents helping with housework, yard work and gardening. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and very involved with helping prepare and serve luncheons for different doings at the church. She was well known for baking and making her wonderful pies with the most delicious homemade pie crusts which she made for family gatherings or just getting together with friends. Another passion she had was to crochet, she made afghans for nearly every family member as well as her friends and also donated for various events. She even took orders from people and sold them. Anyone who knew her will tell you she always had a smile on her face and happy to see you. Special thank you to Rose Haven and all the staff where she has lived the last 9 years where she made many friends whether it was with others who lived there or the staff which you all had a special place in her heart. Marilyn is survived by her sister-in-law Diane Lapinoja of Menahga, Nephew Kevin (Becky) Lapinoja of Menahga, Keith (Kim) Lapinoja of Park Rapids; Neice Amanda Lapinoja; two great nieces, one great nephew, 4 great-great nephews, 1 great-great niece, cousins and several friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Myron. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, November 26, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Honorary pallbearers are all her nieces and nephews.
