Mae (Miller) Carlson, age 83, of Sebeka, MN, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 surrounded by her family at Serenity Living Solutions in Sebeka. Mae Annalou was born the daughter of Homer and Ethel (Raddahl) Gruchow on May 1, 1935 in Watson, MN. After her high school graduation she work as a nanny in St. Paul and at Fanny May Candy Company while attending business school. Mae was united in marriage to Dale Miller in February of 1955 eleven children were born to this union. Mae and Dale owned and operated restaurants, including restaurants in Wadena, Verndale, Sebeka, and Menahga areas throughout their lifetime. She was known for her excellent cooking skills. Mae was also an outstanding seamstress having made many wedding dresses, bank uniforms and prom dresses. She enjoyed gardening, canning the pickles, crafts, the lake house, and especially spending time with her family. She had grandchildren to keep her busy. She was always a kind, giving friend and neighbor to all she knew. In this Christmas Season, we can’t help but think this angel has earned her wings. Mae is survived by her eleven children, Pam (Jim) Cooper Deb (Keith) Becker, Vicki (Bob) Russell, Cindy (Jim) Ellefson, Mark (Donna) Miller, Matthew (Lecil) Miller, Becky (Gus) Heinecke, Rachel (Byron) Schmitz, Susan (Richard) Meech, Wendy (Bob) Dickey, Jason (Renee) Miller, thirty-six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, one sister, two brothers and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, two husbands and two sisters and a brother precede her in death. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in North Germany Township. Pastor Raymond will officiate. Casketbearers will be her children and Honorary Pallbearers Her Grandchildren Great-grandchildren and Great Great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in rural Sebeka.
