Lorraine Elizabeth Loween

Lorraine Elizabeth Loween, Age 92, a Nimrod, MN resident, peacefully passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Park Rapids, Minnesota with her loved ones at her side.   Lorraine was born on October 23, 1925 in Red Eye Township to Axel & Esther (Hendricks) Peterson. She attended country school & then went on to attend Sebeka High school from where she graduated with the Class of 1942. She then attended Teachers School in Walker, MN & Graduated in 1943.   She was united in marriage to Kenneth Loween on March 24, 1945. They were blessed with four children: Darrell, Jeanine, Susan & Dale.   Lorraine continued her education at Bemidji State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree. She taught at various Country Schools & Sebeka Public School, where she was very involved with Special Education Students. She started the 1st class in Sebeka School of Special Education. She taught school in Sebeka from the late 1950’s until she retired in 1986.   Lorraine’s involvement in the community included following her students with special needs- by serving on the DAC Board, the Nimrod Village Council, Nimrod Boosters, Nimrod Hall Association, Senior Citizens Center, Nimrod Lutheran Church, Lutheran Brotherhood and various other organizations.   She will be lovingly remembered by her remaining three children: Darrell (Sue), Jeanie (Denis) Rathcke, Sue (Ray) Hoffman; Four Grandchildren: Terry, Alan, Denine, Kris; 13 Great-Grand Daughters: MacKenzie, Aleashia, Irelynd, Shania, Alexis, Skyler, Ava, Alisyn, McKenna, Daphney, Abby, Lillie & Chloe. She loved them very much & they were the sunshine and stars in her eyes & life.   Lorraine was preceded  in death by her Parents; her Husband, Kenneth; one Son, Dale; one Grandson, Daren; one Great-Grandson, Aaron; two sisters & two Brothers.   Lorraine’s casket bearers were: Alan Rathcke, Larry Huntington, Reed Barthel, Kris Rathcke, MacKenzie Holst, Aleashia Rathcke, Irelynd Rathcke and McKenna Rathcke. Lorraine’s Honorary casket bearers were: Staff of the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Nimrod Lutheran Church in Nimrod, MN. Interment will be at Nimrod Cemetery.
