Leroy Marlin Steinkraus was born on August 9, 1942 in Wadena, Minnesota to Henry and Mary (Kleinke) Steinkraus. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at North Germany Church. He resided in rural Sebeka and attended school through the 8th grade. Leroy liked farm animals and enjoyed the outdoors especially spending time with his parents at their cabin on Stocking Lake in rural Menahga,especially fishing. He lived with his parents on the farm until they moved to Wadena in 1997. After his father passed, Leroy moved to Sebeka with his mother until they moved to Menahga where his mother entered Green Pine Acres Nursing home and Leroy had his own apartment there. After his mother passed, he entered the Parkwood Group Home in Wadena and later resided at Trailwood Group Home also in Wadena. While at the group homes, he enjoyed spending time at the DAC in Sebeka. In May of 2022 he entered St. Williams Living Center. On February 23, 2024 he passed away under the gentle care of Knute Nelson Hospice. While at St, Williams he enjoyed the many activities provided there. Preceding Leroy in death were his parents, Henry and Mary, along with several aunts and uncles. He is survived by several cousins. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St John Lutheran Church in Wadena, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Wadena County, MN.
