Kimberly Ann Lennemann

August 27, 1957 — July 13, 2024

Kimberly Ann Lennemann (McIntosh), age 66, passed away on July 13, 2024 in Menahga, Minnesota. Kim was born in Fairfax, Missouri in 1957 to Harold (Roy) and Gayla McIntosh (Arnold). Kim grew up in Tarkio, Missouri where she attended elementary and high school. In that time, she also lived in Madison, WI; Boulder, CO; San Antonio, TX, Athens, GA, and Corvallis, OR where her father Roy was stationed for the army or completing his PhD studies (at Oregon State University). At Tarkio High School, Kim was a ferocious basketball player, swimmer, and diver, as well as a majorette and captain of their cheerleading squad. Kim graduated from Tarkio College in 1979 with a degree in Special Education.

After graduation, Kim began working at the Iowa State Hospital School, later renamed the Glenwood Resource Center. She and her future husband Paul Lennemann were introduced to one another by a mutual friend and coworker. Kim worked at the Resource Center for over 40 years where she was a Treatment Program Manager and made several close friends. She cared for the residents and gave them a voice, advocating tirelessly for their care and rights. In that role, Kim touched many lives, including those of the families of clients who she cared for. She retired at the age of 62.

Kim and Paul had recently moved to Menahga, Minnesota to live full time at their cabin on Stocking Lake. Kim was an avid reader of murder mysteries (a connoisseur, some might say). She was a fan of the TV show Law and Order and sappy Hallmark Channel movies. Kim loved Christmas and had an acumen for thoughtful gift giving. She valued her friendships, and one of her biggest regrets about moving to Minnesota permanently was leaving the good friends she had made in Iowa.

Kim and Paul lived in Glenwood for 44 years, where they raised three children, Eric Lennemann (42), Erin Potter (Lennemann) (40), and Nicholas Lennemann (39). Kim was greatly involved in Glenwood activities, including managing concessions at Glenwood High School football games where she likely cooked hundreds of pounds of ground beef for walking tacos over the years. All her children were very active in sports, and she rarely missed a game.

Kim’s grandchildren were one of her greatest joys. She valued her time with son Eric and wife Jakkie Lennemann’s children Jayce (10), Blake (6) and Kenna (4) of Zearing, IA; and daughter Erin and husband Drew Potter’s children, Addison (14), Kade (12), Elizabeth (Lizzy) (9), and Quinn (5), of Staples, MN. Kim also enjoyed visiting son Nick and his wife Megan Kiedrowski and their menagerie of dogs and birds in Birmingham, AL.

Kim is survived by her brother John McIntosh and his wife Vickie McIntosh and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Gayla, and her brother Blake McIntosh.

A remembrance is being planned for late August in Glenwood, IA.
