John Raymond Harrison

John Harrison, age 82, of Menahga, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2022. John was born on November 19, 1939 to Helen and Charles Harrison in Seattle, Washington. In 1959, John graduated from Edmonds High School where he had lettered in football, wrestling, and track. John was united in marriage to Barbara (Kinnunen) Matson on November 2, 1963. Out of this union, they were blessed with three daughters, Ann, Cheryl and Julia. John and Barbara made their home in Seattle, Washington where John was employed as a union pipefitter. In 1976 they moved back to Menahga Minnesota where John owned and operated a plumbing business. In 1982, John returned to employment as a union pipefitter in the Seattle Washington area where he worked until his retirement in 1995. John was a proud member of Local 26, Plumber and Pipe Fitters Union for 55 years. In 1987, John married Kristina Troxell. John and Tina made their home in Ocean Shores, Washington. John enjoyed walking on the ocean beach with his dog, eating fresh seafood - especially razor clams dipped in tartar sauce. In 2018 John decided to move back to Menahga to be near his daughters and grandchildren. John enjoyed more than anything spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He loved his dogs, camping and walks through Itasca State Park, John enjoyed listening to the old country classics while driving. John always enjoyed auctions and never left the auction empty handed. He owned more vehicles, boats and motorcycles than we could keep count of. Over his lifetime John owned 100's of cars, trucks, boats - some good, some not so good. Oh how John loved a good auction. John was known for humor and positive attitude, always willing to help a person out with whatever needed to be done and always there for his family and friends. John is survived by his wife Kristina; daughters: Cheryl (Terry) Berttunen and Julia Livingston; step sons: Ricky (Hannah) Troxell and Jamie Troxell; grandchildren: John Paul, Thomas, and Michelle Richotte; Zach and Justen Berttunen; Harmony and Riley Livingston; Travis, Tyler, and Jacob Troxell. Great grandchildren; Layla and Leo Richotte, Theo Richotte, and Wrenlee Berttunen. His sister Virgina Laris, brothers Donald and Daryl Harrison. John is preceeded in death by his parents Charles and Helen; brothers Chuck, Willie, and Richard; sister Betty; daughter Ann Richotte, and great grandson Keith Richotte Jr. Visitation for John will be held from 5-7pm Friday, June 17, 2022 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN.
