Jeff Hoyhtya

Jeff Hoyhtya age, 53, of Tucson, AZ died on April 19, 2020. Jeff was born on Feb. 17, 1967 in Great Falls, Montana to Wilbert and Shirley (Stine) Hoyhtya. After his dad's retirement from the Air Force, the family moved from Minot, ND back to Minnesota. Jeff attended Menahga public school and graduated with the class of 1985. He then went on to attend college at Bemidji State University where he studied in Computer Information Systems and earned his degree in 1991.After Jeff moved to Tucson, AZ in 1997, his career in the computer field over the years involved positions in tech support, a tech advisor, GPS engineer, and the final position as an associate service engineer with Rainbird. Anyone that knew Jeff spoke of what a good all around person and friend that he was and of the great memories with him. His love for anything with an engine (mainly cars and motorcycles) was apparent in that he thoroughly enjoyed talking about them and attending swap meets and shows whenever he had a chance. He referred to his motorcycle rides as his "therapy". Jeff's fondest memories always involved stories of when he would come back to Minnesota to visit his family and friends, fishing, and watching football - Vikings fan forever! Even though Jeff spent 23+ years in Arizona, he always said Minnesota will always be his home and Arizona as where he made a life. Jeff put up a valiant and courageous fight against an aggressive form of stage 4 prostate cancer for the last 3 1/2 years of his life. He is now finally at peace and no longer in pain. Jeff will be deeply missed by his sister Lyn (Lee) Moorhouse, brother Kevin (Erica) Hoyhtya, his nieces Leah (Greg) Tretbar, and Sophia Hoyhtya, his nephew Logan Moorhouse and great nephew Brendan Tretbar. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
