Ione Evelyn Pauna

January 5, 1941 — October 3, 2018

Ione Evelyn (Holen) Pauna age 77 of Menahga, MN, peacefully entered the splendor of heaven on Wednesday morning October 3rd 2018 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, with family by her side. Ione was born on January 5th 1941 in Kensington, MN to Harold and Vernice (Anderson) Holen. At a young age she moved with her family to Minneapolis, MN. She was the oldest of the four children Ione, Lavon, Glen and Roy. Ione graduated from Minneapolis South High School in 1959. She then worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone in bookkeeping. On September 17, 1960, she was united in marriage to Donald Richard Pauna and their marriage was blessed with three children, Howard, Eileen and Douglas. In 1972 the family moved to a farm in Runeberg Township, near Menahga, MN. Ione was active in church organizations at Bethany Lutheran Church and First English Lutheran and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was also a member of the Menahga VFW Auxiliary. She worked part time for Lake Construction in Sebeka, MN, Orton’s in Menahga, Chuck’s Grocery in Menahga and J & B Foods in Park Rapids. In retirement, she spent her time visiting family members and friends, and did a lot of crocheting, she made many afghans and other things. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Howard Pauna of Minneapolis, MN; Douglas (Sarah) Pauna of Bemidji, MN; her daughter Eileen (Jim) Snelling of Menahga, MN; five grandchildren, sister, Lavon (Charlie) Nordlund of Cambridge, MN and brother, Roy Holen of Minneapolis, MN as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Glen. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 15, 2018 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Menahga City Cemetery at a later date.
