Hilda Martha Sundberg

While America was in the midst of WW I, Hilda was born December 29, 1917 in rural Sebeka, Minnesota to Henry and Helga (Puttonen) Mattson. Hilda attended Hay Creek Country School through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Evert Sundberg on September 30, 1941. They were blessed with one daughter, Judy. Hilda and her husband worked on a farm initially and later progressed to other jobs. Hilda spent much of her career as a Nurses’ Aide in a nursing home. Hilda moved to Houston in 1999 to join her daughter’s family. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Henry and Helga Mattson, step-father, Edward Walimaa, her son-in-law, Roy Johnson, seven siblings and their spouses, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Johnson, her granddaughters, Leah (Claudiu) Gavrila, Laina Johnson-Barajas, great-grandchildren Ariana and Vincent, and nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 18, 2021 at Wevley Funeral Home, Sebeka, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Mantyla Cemetery rural Sebeka.
