Gregory Duane Carter, 49, beloved son of Bob and Martha Carter, passed away on Friday, March 23rd, 2018, after years of struggle with alcohol addiction and resulting liver disease. In his last days, he was in loving hospice care provided by Knute Nelson in Wadena, MN. Visitation will be at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN, on Monday, April 2, from 5-8 P.M. Funeral service will be held at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Bluegrass, MN, on Tuesday, April 3, at 11 A.M. with Father Lauren Germann officiating; the inurnment will take place at a later date.Greg was born in Minneapolis, MN, on April 24, 1968. He graduated from New York Mills High School in 1986, and St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN, in 1990, with a B.A. in Political Science. For many years, Greg was a successful sales engineer in the packaging industry, traveling extensively in the U.S. and internationally. During his free time, Greg enjoyed hunting in Zerkel, MN, riding his motorcycle, and following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Greg found joy in literature, music, and good food; his appreciation for zany humor was a constant, and he was always ready for a good laugh. He was a loyal son, brother, uncle, and friend, and he adored his nieces and nephews, the “Crazy 8”. Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Paul D. Barker, Sr. (Nanny & Papa), Frances and Clifford Carter (Giga & Bumpa), and Johnny and June Barker (uncle and aunt).Greg is survived by his parents, Bob and Martha Carter, and his three sisters and their families: Michelle, Greg, Madeline, and Morgen Bauer; Katie, Matt, Olivia, and Emmett Delly; Laura, Reggie, Kolby, Gavin, Parker, and Zoe Kiser, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kinship of Wadena/Sebeka.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the University of Minnesota Transplant Care Team/Clinic and Surgery Center, Wadena Tri-County Hospital, and Fair Oaks Lodge and Hospice Care.
