Beatrice G. Janson

Beatrice G. Janson, 93 years old, formerly of rural Wadena, MN passed away on May 15th, 2023 at Perham Living Transitions Unit in Perham. She was born on December 29, 1929 to Emil and Sigrid (Puttonen Mattson) Mattie at their farm home in Blowers Township, East Otter Tail County. Beatrice attended Haycreek Country School and then Sebeka Public School, graduating in 1947. After graduation she worked at Swift’s Processing Company in Frazee and helped her parents farm in rural Wadena. Then she went to Minneapolis and worked at Honeywell, Inc. for one year prior to her marriage. Beatrice and J. Leonard Janson were married at her parents’ home on June 30, 1951. Three sons were born to their union. They initially farmed for four years on the Janson Family farm in Becker County. Then in 1955, Leonard and Beatrice purchased Beatrice’s Family farm and farmed there till their retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Menahga Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. She enjoyed dairy farming, going to church, and watching sport events, especially baseball and football in her retirement. Beatrice resided at Providence Villa Assisted Living in Sebeka during the last three years of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011, her parents and five siblings: Verna Ruona-Koski, Verdie Mattie, Eleanor Niemela, Ralph Mattie and Elsie Isola. Beatrice is survived by her three sons: Dale (Marcy) Janson, Darrel (Nettie) Janson and Douglas Janson; and their families which includes 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law: Greta Janson and three brothers-in-law: Donald (Gerry) Janson, Peter Linden, and Raymond (Gloria) Janson; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of brothers and sisters in faith. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN. Interment will be at Hay Creek Cemetery.
