Gary Dean Odland

Gary Dean Odland, age 58, died peacefully January 25th, 2020 at his home in Molalla, Oregon. He was born on December 12th, 1961 to Linden and Lila (Hepola) Odland in Townsend, Montana. Later, Gary moved to the Menahga, Minnesota area with his parents and siblings.  Gary’s love was his six girls, always providing and taking care of them. His family and friends were very important to him, and he loved to spend his free time enjoying old country music and bonfires with those whom he loved most. Gary attended Detroit Lakes Community College and then worked in the logging industry, for the railroad, and finally as a supervisor for Abhe & Svoboda (ASI) where he worked as an industrial painter and sandblaster for the past 39 years and 8 months. His career with ASI had allowed him to travel all over the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. Gary earned many certificates including: Certified Crane Operator, Certified Coating Application Specialist (CAS) through the Society of Protective Coatings (SSPC), Erosion and Sediment Control Manager, Lead Paint Removal Certificate through SSPC, trained in First Aid and CPR, OSHA 30 hour Safety Training, Flagger and Traffic Control Supervisor, OSHA 40 hour Hazwoper Hazardous Waste Training, Member of the Society of Protective Coatings, Company Driver for Abhe & Svoboda, among many other accomplishments. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Linden and Lila (Hepola) Odland, daughter Aleshia, sisters, Roxanne and Faye Dawn “Punky”, brothers, Robert “Bobby” and Edwin “Andy.” Gary is survived by his significant other, Tammy Odland; his daughters, Amber, Amanda, Auburn (Johann) and Angel; grandchildren: Amelia, Cyprian, Tahliya, Cameron, Brody, Beckham, Alexis, Nathanial, Balin, and Tyson; brothers: Lindy “Boyk” (Kristi), Oscar and Kelly (Julie); sister, Vicky Lynn, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many friends and co-workers that became family. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN, with a visitation two hours prior to the service at the church.
