Flora Mae Wiita

Flora Mae (MacMillan) Wiita age 86 passed away peacefully, at Sanford Hospital, in Fargo, ND on Wednesday September 22, 2021. Flora was born on December 12, 1934 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN to Duncan and Hilma (Nurminen) MacMillan. She was the oldest of 3 children. Flora grew up with her 2 siblings Duncan and Evie. She attended Duluth Central High School. In May 1951, Flora met the love of her life, Arne Wiita. They were married Feb, 9, 1952 and were blessed with 6 beautiful daughters. In 1967 they decided to move to Minneapolis. Seven years later in 1974 the family moved to a hobby farm near Sebeka where they spent 12 years together. In 1986 Flora and Arne moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico for 6 years. After their time in New Mexico the pair moved back to Minnesota and into their current home in Menahga. Throughout her years Flora split her time as both a wonderful mother raising 6 daughters and working hard as a waitress at various restaurants. Some of her hobbies included knitting and traveling the world. She was always up for a game of cards. Her summers were spent tending to a small garden where she grew many tomatoes and beautiful flowers. She could even tell you the score of the Minnesota Twins baseball game. Flora loved to spend time watching her favorite tv series Perry Mason and Columbo, and keeping her mind sharp with some Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Flora will be sadly missed by her loving family. Daughters, Shirley Jamison, Sandra Lehner, Sherry (Winston) Minor, Shelly Wiita, and Susan Kinnunen. 14 grandchildren, and also by great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Arne, infant son, Daughter Sara, Parents Duncan and Hilma MacMillan, Brother Duncan, Sister Evie, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN. Interment will be at Menahga City Cemetery.
