Elsie Lorraine Lillquist

Elsie Lorraine (Mattson) Lillquist, age 90, of Sebeka, MN was called to her eternal rest on March 11, 2022 at Serenity Home of Sebeka, MN, where she had lived for 4 years when her health failed. She was born on May 13, 1931 to Ole and Emma Mattson in Ottertail County, MN. She attended Haycreek Country school through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage on April 19, 1947 to H. Elmer Lillquist. Elsie worked side by side with her husband at the Lillquist TV & Radio shop in Sebeka. Elsie and Elmer started their life together on a farm southwest of Menahga. They later sold that farm and purchased a larger farm near Sebeka where they raised 5 children. After many years of farm life they retired to a home on Wells Avenue and later to the Centennial Apartments in Sebeka. In her free time Elsie enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards and many dice games. She made exceptional flat bread and mojakka. Elsie was an avid member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, serving on the Altar Guild and singing in the choir. She was a past President of the Auxiliary of Berg-Nylund Post 456. Elsie is survived by her children: Darwin (Cindy) Lillquist, Darlene (Tony) Nardini, Harold (Barb) Lillquist, Sheldon (Kathy) Lillquist and Shelley (Rick) Kangas; 12 grandchildren: Jon (Jenny) Lillquist, Chris (Amy) Lillquist, Greg (Marya) Lillquist, Sarah Nevala, Johanna (Steve) Fowler, Michael (Brandi) Lillquist, Melissa (Chad) Wattenhofer, Mindy (Clint) Kyllonen, Joshua (Dee) Lillquist, Monica (Casey) Watson, Scott (Cheri) Kangas, Craig (Catherine) Kangas; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; and 8 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 18,2022 at Grace Lutheran Church of Sebeka, MN. Casketbearers will be her grandsons: Jon Lillquist, Chris Lillquist, Greg Lillquist, Michael Lillquist, Joshua Lillquist, Scott Kangas, and Craig Kangas.
