Edwin Raymond Schleder

Edwin Raymond Schleder age 84, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2018. He was born on December 13, 1933 in Sebeka, MN, to Tony and Christine (Dena Brockpahler) Schleder. He attended elementary country school and graduated from Sebeka HS in 1951. He helped on the family farm after graduation until 1956 when he joined the armed services where he served in Korea for 2 years. In the summer of 1958, he met his wife of 58+ years, Joanne (Malone) who was vacationing from IA visiting relatives in MN. On October 24, 1959, he and Joanne were wed at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, IA. The newlyweds made their home in Sebeka, MN, and began farming and started a family. Ed farmed for 45+ years, milking cows, raising beef cattle and pigs at various times throughout those years. He retired in 2006, building a new home and moving into the town of Sebeka. During Ed’s free time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Politics was one of his greatest passions and he enjoyed having lively political debates. Preceded in death by brothers Billy and Vernon, and parents, Tony and Dena. Ed is survived by his wife, Joanne, his children Lisa Carlson (Gaylord), John (Rona), Charlie, and Susan Morton (Robert). His grandchildren Edwin and Nathan Carlson, Luke, Hannah, and Lavender Schleder, Sam and Sierra Morton, and his step-grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie, Joy, Josie and Jordan Carlson. He is also survived by his 3 sisters, Bernadine, Geraldine, and Deanna and many nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces. Ed will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Bluegrass, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
