Donna Jean Roiko

Donna Jean (Hemphill) Roiko was born on October 16, 1931 to David and Pearl Hemphill in Paddock Township, Ottertail County, Minnesota. She attended rural schools in Paddock Township, until her family moved to Sebeka after her father’s death in 1943. She graduated from Sebeka High School in 1949. She was brought to God in Holy Baptism on November 16, 1935 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Sebeka. It was on this day that Donna became a child of God and a member of His Kingdom. She was instructed in the Christian faith and she publicly affirmed her baptismal vow and faith on the day of her Confirmation on April 30, 1944 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Sebeka and promised to be faithful to that vow until her death. By God’s Spirit leading and grace, she was able to fulfill that vow. On October 7, 1951, Donna was united in marriage to Henry Richard Roiko. While Henry completed his military service in Germany, Donna worked in Minneapolis and enjoyed living at Dunwoody Hall. They lived in the Minneapolis area for 27 years, where they raised their four children. She was the bookkeeper for Henry’s businesses, P&R Tool and Northeast Engineering. Donna loved her husband, family and life. She was a charter member of Friends in Christ Community Church of Sebeka. She was a former active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Sebeka, where she served as treasurer for many years and enjoyed the quilting group. She enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota having reached the age of 90. Donna will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Steven and Linda Cusey of Karlstad MN, Randy and his wife Connie of Green Bay WI and Kevin and his wife Karen of Verndale MN; one daughter Jean Jackson and her husband Eddie of Bloomington MN; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and brother Roy Hemphill and wife Sharon Huotari. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Glen. May the Lord bless the memory of Donna Jean Roiko, a child of God. May the Lord also grant comfort, peace and strength to those of us left behind to mourn her departure from us. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the Friends in Christ Community Church in Sebeka MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Sebeka West Cemetery.
