Chester Alvin Ylitalo

Chester Alvin Ylitalo, 85, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and family by his side on March 22, 2018. He was born on January 23, 1933 in Green Valley Township to the late Jack and Edna (Haataja) Ylitalo. He was raised on their family farm near Wolf Lake and attended the Green Valley Township School. He was confirmed into the Apostolic Lutheran faith. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was united in marriage to Ellen Torola on August 30, 1958 at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet, Michigan. Together they raised their family near Menahga and he was a member of the Runeberg Apostolic Lutheran Church.Preceding him in death are his dear granddaughter Molly Ylitalo, sister Doris Ylitalo, brothers Ralph Ylitalo, Paul Ylitalo, Edwin Ylitalo and his wife Marlene.Chester is survived by his wife Ellen Ylitalo of Menahga MN His children Ross (Mari) Ylitalo of Calumet, MI Mary Ylitalo of Buffalo, MN Audrey (Ned) Miller of Buffalo, MN Philip (Kim) Ylitalo of Menahga Lana (Kenneth) Hyrkas of Calumet, MI Donelle (James) Aho of Calumet, MIKayleen (Jay) Horsma of Menahga Jodi (Robert) Jackola of Buffalo, MN Timothy Ylitalo of Menahga 44 grand children and 6 great grandchildren.  His brothers Vincent (Marcella) Ylitalo of Plymouth, MN Howard (Brita) Ylitalo of Cokato, MN Leslie (Sharon) Ylitalo of Wolf Lake, MN Kermit (Jean) Ylitalo of Sebeka, MN sisters Annette (Walter) Johnson of Minnetonka, MNBernice (Robert) Johnson of Menahga Florence (Paul) Parks of Minnetonka, MNMavis (Daryl) Simonson Linda (Carl) Greku of Cokato, MN His sisters-in-law Priscilla Ylitalo (Ralph) of Brainerd, MN Lillian Ylitalo (Paul) of Minnetonka, MNVisitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Runeburg First Apostolic Lutheran Church in rural Menahga, MN.Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Runeberg First Apostolic Lutheran Church in rural Menahga, MN. Interment will be at Runeberg, mn Cemetery.
