Bryan Curtis Maaninga

Bryan Curtis Maaninga, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga after a long illness. Bryan was born October 23, 1959, in Park Rapids to Melvin and Darlene (Downer) Maaninga.  He graduated from Menahga High School and attended Bemidji State University for a short time. Bryan lived in Menahga for most of his life.  He worked at a tree farm for several years and later did yard work and snow removal around town. Bryan was a kind, gentle and soft-spoken man.  He was thoughtful of others and willing to help any way he could.  He looked out for family and neighbors doing jobs, shopping or running errands.  He looked forward to getting together with family for summer cookouts and holiday meals. He enjoyed reading and had a good memory, so he always won at games of Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit.  When family came to visit, Bryan would entice everyone into playing a game of cribbage, dominoes or Yahtzee. Bryan was also an avid spectator sports fan.  He was interested in everything from local high school sports to the OIympics.  He watched college basketball and football on TV and closely followed the Minnesota professional sports teams. Bryan is survived by his mother, one sister - Myrna (Don) Baumgart of rural Menahga, two brothers - Wayne of East Grand Forks, MN and Darryn of Moorhead, four nephews, one niece, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Bryan was preceded in death by his father. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 22, 2018 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Wevley Funeral Home Sebeka, MN. Inurnment will be at Jim Cook Cemetery.
