Berta Marlene (Odland) Trimble, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2017. Berta was born on August 13th, 1942 in Huntersville, MN to Cecil and Inez (Downer) Odland. Berta moved to White Sulfur Springs, Montana in 1948 with her family where her dad owned and operated a logging business. She spent part of her childhood there and later returned to Menahga, MN. As a teenager, Berta moved back to White Sulphur Springs for a few years; while there she was a basketball cheerleader for the Hornets. On January 16th, 1960, Berta and David Trimble were married. They had four children; Kari, Kim, David and Dennis, and made their home in Minnesota before moving to Utah. In 1970, Berta returned to Menahga to be closer to family and friends. She worked as a teller at 1st National Bank of Menahga and as a certified nursing assistant at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home, where her love of nursing began. Berta graduated from LPN school in July of 1980 and began working at St. Joseph’s hospital in Park Rapids. Her caring nature and comforting demeanor touched the lives of those she met. Berta loved visiting her friends and dancing to country music at the Menahga VFW, where she was a proud member of the Auxiliary. She was an avid Midway Snurdbirds fan and rarely missed a game, always cheering on "her boys." Berta purchased a home in Menahga where she lived for 25 years surrounded by wonderful neighbors. In 2016 she joined the Woodside Manor community and enjoyed her time with friends both old and new. Her greatest joy came from being involved in her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s lives. Berta will be lovingly remembered by her children: Kari Gravely of Menahga, Kim (George) Baso of Menahga, David (Valerie) Trimble of Merrifield, and Dennis (Jennifer) Trimble of Ocoee, FL and through her enduring legacy of 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, brother Chuck of Polson, MT, many nieces and nephews, and her Woodside Manor family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Inez; brothers, Mike, Lindy and Don; sisters, Lola Rosenbaum and Mila Mercier, and great-granddaughter Grace Baso. Funeral Services for will be held on 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Shell City Cemetery.
