Lois Marie Koll age 81, of Sebeka, MN died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, MN. Lois was born to Ernest and Marie (Bickford) Olson on a farm in Lake Ida Township, Douglas County, near Garfield, MN. She attended Country School District 17 and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1946. She Graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1948 with an Elementary Teaching Degree. She took her third year of education from Bemidji State University. Lois was united in marriage to Ambrose Koll on April 12, 1950. Ambie and Lois came to Sebeka in August 1951. Here they raised their six children and made Sebeka their life long residence. Lois was a charter member of the Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Menahga. She taught school in Evansville, Hackensack and Sebeka and a longtime substitute teacher in the elementary schools in Wadena County. She was an active member of the Sebeka American Legion Auxiliary. She served as unit #456 President from 1970 to 1971, Sixth District President from 1980 to 1981 and Department of MN President from 1989 to 1990. She was honored with a Life membership in 1981. She was also a member of the VFW in Menahga and a member of Cabane 1281 for Minnetonka, Past Sixth District Presidents Parley and Past Department Presidents Parley of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her passion was quilting and she was a Member of the Bluegrass Quilt Club. She is survived by two sons Brad (Cindi) Koll and Jim Koll four daughters, Kathleen (Robert) King, Katherine (Paul) Lilke, Janet Koll (Steve Bunday) Lisa Koll (Shahzad Ahmad) grandchildren, Kris (Stacy) Koll, Darci (Kenny) Geiser, Gabe Koll, Bradley King and Kourtney Lilke, great grandchildren Joie, Conrad and Creed Koll, Kale and Ruby Geiser. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ambrose and brother, Ernest Olson. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday September 23, 2010 at Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Menahga with Father Scott Wittkop officiating. Ione Ellingson will serve as organist. Congregational Hymns are “On Eagles Wings,” “Amazing Grace” and “Peace is flowing like a River.” Honorary Pallbearers are American Legion Auxiliary Past Department Presidents, Past Sixth District Presidents, and All of Unit #456 Auxiliary Members. Active Casketbearers are Kris Koll, Darci Geiser, Gabe Koll and Bradley King. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 12:30 PM.
