Mildred Marie Skaar age 88 of Menahga, MN died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Mildred Marie De Lapp Skaar was born on June 2, 1922 to Earl and Marie (Molmen) De Lapp in Lake City, South Dakota. Mildred then moved to Minnesota, where her family farmed in the Rockwood Bluegrass area. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bluegrass Lutheran Church in 1934. On June 7, 1941 she was united in marriage to Robert B. Skaar. Bob entered the Military Service in 1942 and after his discharge they farmed in the Nimrod area until 1952. She then moved to the Moorhead area where she worked as a waitress and Hostess at the Oak Manor Motel in Fargo for 17 years. In 1978 they moved back to the Menahga area where she resided until 2006 when she moved to the Woodside Manor where she retired. She was very active in the Menahga Senior Citizens and her church, the Menahga United Methodist. Mildred Is survived by 3 children Roberta (Larry) Dengerud, Nancy Hively, and Jeffry Skaar. Mildred has 5 grandchildren La Nae (Dev) Veit, Doreen (Tim) Evans, Patti (Keith) Huro, Jared and Brady Skaar, 3 great grandchildren, Matt and Danielle Evans and Nicholas Huro. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister and husband. Visitation will be from 3-4 PM at Woodside Manor in Menahga and one hour prior to the service at the Church. Funeral Service will be 6:00 PM Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Menahga United Methodist Church with Pastor Loren Ferch officiating. Lonnie Schmidt will serve as organist. Soloist will be Danielle Evans singing “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is calling” and “I can only Imagine” and Pastor Loren Ferch singing “No One Ever Cared for Me like Jesus.” Congregational Hymns are “It is Not Secret” and “Living for Jesus.” Active Casketbearers are her granddaughters and their spouses, La Nae (Dev) Veit, Doreen (Tim) Evans and Patti (Keith) Huro. Interment will be at Sebeka West Cemetery.
