Albert LaVern Tappe Jr., age 67 of Sebeka, MN died on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his home in North Germany Township, Wadena County, MN. Albert was born May 23, 1943 to Albert Sr. and Martha Tappe. He attended District 48 County School until seventh grade, and then at¬tended Sebeka High School. After high school he attend¬ed Wadena Tech for Auto Mechanics. To many of his friends he was known as "Sonny." Al worked at Chrysler Plymouth in Alexandria, MN; then joined the National Guards in 1963. He was stationed in Fort Jackson in South Carolina, specializing in Sharp Shooting and was very good at it. Al then worked at many other various jobs. He worked at Dumarks in Crystal, MN for 23 years, and then started his own me¬chanics shop until 2009 when his health deteriorat¬ed. Al's house was always open to people in need. He made lots of friends through his years. He was a big talker and if he never knew them at the beginning of a conver¬sation he knew them by the time the conversation was over. Albert is survived by his wife Joyce; three sons, Jeff, Joe and John; daughter Maxi; grandson Andrew; sis¬ter- and brother-in-law, Evelyn (Harold) Milbradt; and immediate extended family Jason Schultz (Amanda and Jaden); Larry Woodard; Ira Seals; Eric Pederson; father¬ and mother-in-law Alvin and Maxine Brasel, Sebeka; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Jan) Brasel, Ottertail, Ronnie (Renee) Brasel, West Fargo, ND, Joe (RaNae) Brasel, Sebeka; sis¬ters- and brothers-in-law Sherry (Mike) Erickson, Moorhead, Alyce (Joel) Rising and Shirley (Jim) Huntington, both of Sebeka; many nieces and nephews and friends. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Martha Tappe and sis¬ter Della Tappe. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Pastor Ben Carlsen of¬ficiating. Marge Kinnunen will serve as organist. Special Music will be provided by Cheyenne Pickar singing “Amazing Grace” and Deana Skov and Avis Estabrooks singing “I’ll Fly Away” and “Daddy’s Hands.” Congregational hymns will be “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “How Great Thou Art.” Honorary Pallbearers are Jake Robberstad, Joe Robberstad, Dick Pickar, Walter Schultz and Harvey Benson. Active Casketbearers are Larry Hayes, Mike Carter, Dale Stelzer, Mike McCurry, Bob Pickar and Steve Johnson. Berg Nylund American Legion Post #456 of Sebeka, MN will provide Military Honors Interment will be at West Lyons Cemetery.
