Donna Lou Roiko

Donna Lou Roiko age 65, a longtime Nimrod, MN area resident, died peacefully of a massive stroke on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN with her loved ones by her side. Donna was born to Stuart and Jennie (Randall) Spencer on January 10, 1945 in Huntersville, MN. She attended Country School and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1963. Donna was united in marriage to Dennis Hegg in 1963; they were blessed with four daughters, Coleen, Dawn, Tammy, and Debra. In 1987 she married Steven Roiko and gained two stepchildren Angie (Roiko) Lehmann and Adam Roiko. Donna loved the outdoors, camping, canoeing, fishing, hunting and having a bonfire. She especially loved it when the grandkids were able to go along camping and fishing. She also loved to sew, make quilts, gardening and canning. Her happiest times were when her children and grandchildren were around; she loved spending as much time with them as she could. Donna is survived by her fiancé Jim Roth of Nimrod; daughters, Dawn (Jeff) Schwartz of Wadena; Tammy (Keith) Waln of Wadena; Debra (Daniel) Eguwe of Sebeka; Angie (Steve) Lehmann of Frazee; Adam (Alicia) Roiko of Queensland, AZ; eleven grandchildren; sisters, Lenora "Ann" (Paul) Strong and Ruth Sanders; brothers, Lynn (Carol) Spencer, Lyle (Dianne) Spencer, David (Gwyn) Spencer and Larry (Mary) Spencer; many nieces and nephews, good friends, and her faithful dog Peanut. Donna is preceded in death by her daughter, Coleen Hegg, her parents, Stuart and Jennie (Randall) Spencer and sister, Lavonne "Bonnie" Currie. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Sebeka United Methodist Church with Pastor Loren Ferch officiating. Visitation will be Monday, May 24, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and on hour prior to the service at the Church. Jayne Koskiniemi will serve as organist. Angie Lehmann will accompany herself singing “When You Come Home.” Congregational hymns will be “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden.” Honorary Pallbearers are her Grandchildren Carrie (Nick) Johnson, Sarah Schwartz, Kelsey Schwartz, Dylan Waln, Elizabeth Jones, Nicholas Jones, Chloe Jones, Isaiah Lehmann, Elijah Lehmann, and Baby Roiko. Active Casketbearers included Duane Swanson, Gordon Skillings, Michael Roth, Neil Hanson Richard Frisbie and Jim Childers. Interment will follow the service at Wadena Cemetery.
