Rosemari Jean Anderson was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on January 21, 1938 to Gerald D. Aken and Alice Violet (Lindquist) Aken. She grew up on her father's resort on Round Lake in northern Becker County. She enjoyed singing, sewing, and crafting as a youth and worked very hard during the busy resort season. She met her lifelong love, Dennis Anderson in 1953. She graduated from Frazee High School in 1955. They were married on September 22, 1956. Just after they were married, Dennis brought her to his church, Bethany Lutheran, where she became a confirmed member and taught Sunday School for over 25 years. There were 4 children born from this union. They lived in rural Wolf Lake where they raised turkeys and crops until Dennis retired. Besides working with her husband on the farm, Rosemari enjoyed her family, gardening, canning, cooking, baking, sewing and crafting. But after the children were grown, she discovered her passion in painting. She enjoyed canvas and landscape painting, but her favorite was rosemaling. Rosie was also very active in the church and the community. She was a member of the Wolf Lake Lions club and was a board member and President of the Minnesota Women for Turkey. She was honored with the very first Promoter of the Year Award for the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association for her work in the industry. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. Preceding her in death were her parents, infant brother Arnold, and a nephew, Lance Anderson. Surviving her is her husband of 61 years Dennis, her children Darrell (Maureen) of Detroit Lakes, John of Detroit Lakes, Bruce (Mary) of rural Barnesville, and Kristi (Steve) Amell of rural Detroit Lakes, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, brothers Jerome Aken of Anaheim, CA, Tom Nabbe of Orlando, FL, sisters Lorreta Jackson of Jenson, UT, Juanita Mora and Marie Mora of Costa Mesa, CA. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 29, 2017 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will be at at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
