Hazel Reola Quale, 97, of Sebeka died Saturday March 25, 2017 at Serenity Living Solutions. Hazel was born November 21, 1919 to Peter and Clara (Astrum) Ostlund in Rockwood Township. She attended District 41 school through 8th grade and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1937 and then attended American Business College in Minneapolis. On May 31, 1946 she married Carl Quale and four children were born to this union. They made their home in Farmington, MN for 3 years and Hazel worked at International Harvester until the spring of 1949 when they bought a farm near Sebeka. In Sebeka she worked at the Sebeka Coop Store and Security State Bank until she retired in December of 1981. Hazel enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and making quilts. During fall and winter she worked on World Relief Quilts. Other hobbies included crossword puzzles, crocheting, embroidering and reading. Hazel was a member of the Homemakers Club, Garden Club, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday School for many years. Hazel’s loving heart especially showed when she cared for her husband for 10 years after he suffered a stroke in January of 1992. Hazel is survived by her daughter Gail Heiraas and her husband Ron of Moorhead, MN; son Steven Quale of Sebeka; two granddaughters Jennifer Winter and her husband Mike of Dilworth, MN; Kimberly Bjone and her husband Kellen of West Fargo; four great grandchildren, Madisen Bjone, MaKayla Winter, Owen Winter and Aiden Bjone, two sisters, Helen Johnson, Wenatchee, Washington and Gladys Graba, Sebeka, MN; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons and three brothers. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Wevley Funeral Home Sebeka, MN. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 31, 2017 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN. Interment will be held at Green Hill Cemetery Sebeka, MN.
