LuAnn Kay Limanen, age 62, of Sebeka MN died at her home on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017. LuAnn was born to Marvin and Eunice (Olson) Windels on March 28th, 1954 at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, MN. She was baptized in 1954 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Blowers Township and confirmed in 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. LuAnn was raised on the family farm in Blowers Township and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1972. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Stan Limanen, on April 28th, 1973. They were blessed with two daughters, Jody and Angie. LuAnn spent most of her life caring for others. She worked as a caregiver/supervisor for 27 years at Oakridge Homes of Wadena, where she touched the lives of the severely mentally and physically handicapped. LuAnn was a loving and giving person who simply cannot be replaced. At the age of 61 she was diagnosed with lung cancer which forced her to retire. In October 2016, she underwent surgery to remove the cancer which left her cancer free. LuAnn loved her four-legged companion, Chrissy, as if she were one of her own. She enjoyed putting together photo albums of her family, puzzles, crocheting, scarves, and spending time outside in the summer on her new patio. She was a dedicated Grandma who never missed a school program or a newspaper clipping of any of her granddaughters. LuAnn was a member of the New York Mills VFW Auxiliary #3289. LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Eunice Windels and her Spouse, Stan. She is survived by daughters, Jody (Pat Williams) Limanen of Staples and Angie (Jason) Vargo of Sebeka; Granddaughters, Chelsea, Erin, Alyssa, Jayden, and Anna; her furry friend, Chrissy; Sister Karen (Richard) Brasel of New York Mills; Brothers-in law Steve (Glenda) Limanen of Sebeka and Stewart (Gayle) Limanen of Osage; Sisters-in law Sharon (Charles) Keskitalo of Menahga and Sheila (Ken Kritta of Bovey, MN. A Celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 3rd at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Honorary Pallbearers include Chelsea Lustila, Alyssa Vargo, Jayden Vargo, Anna Vargo and Erin Lustila.
