Elma Agnes Katainen

Elma Agnes Longfors Katainen, age 85, of Menahga, MN died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Rose Haven Care Center in Menahga, MN. Elma was born to Frank and Lyyli (Rajanen) Longfors on June 5, 1931 in Shell Lake Township, Becker County, MN. She graduated from elementary school #82 in Becker County in 1946. She was confirmed in 1946 at the Paddock Lutheran Church. Elma was united in marriage to Viljo Katainen on October 8, 1953. Elma was a member of the Mary Martha Circle for over 50 years; she also served as the financial secretary for 22 years at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Elma loved flower and vegetable gardening and canning many jars of produce. She was a Garden Club member for many years. Elma leaves to mourn her husband Viljo Katainen; two nephews, Raymond Longfors and Robert Longfors; two nieces, Margie Harju and Susan Longfors; many cousins, and a host of friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marvin. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday February, 4, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Menahga City Cemetery.
