Clarice Kay Schwartz, age 78, of Sebeka, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. Clarice was the youngest of sixteen children born March 18, 1938 in Caribou, Maine to Clinton Benjamin Fisk Hewitt and Margaret Blanche (Neadeau) Hewitt. After attending school, Clarice was united in marriage to (the late) Arthur Glen Schwartz, Sr. on April 3, 1954 at the Presque Isle Air Force Base Chapel in Maine. To this union came eleven children who they raised on a farm west of Sebeka in Ottertail County. Clarice worked for Homecrest Industries for numerous years. While raising her family, Clarice worked as a Professional Cook for Sebeka Public School as well as a couple restaurants before becoming the Lead Housekeeper for Eagle Bay Lodge in Park Rapids, MN for sixteen years. Clarice loved her days on the lake working there and hearing the loons call across the water. She loved to cook and bake, always having fresh baked cookies and a cup of coffee for any guest who stopped by for a visit. Clarice loved gardening and always grew immaculate English Gardens blooming with vivid abundance. Clarice spent many hours knitting and crocheting miles of yarn and thread. She loved making her home a comforting place sipping hot tea with friends and loved decorating her home for the seasons. Clarice loved playing Scrabble and Chinese Checkers, and loved ribbing anyone who challenged her to a game and thought they could win. Clarice is Survived by her children: Rita Johnson Adams, Lake Oswego, OR; Arthur (Tamara) Schwartz Jr., Forest Lake, MN; Kay Dieter, Keizer, OR; Diana (Duane) Benson, Nimrod MN; Mary Schwartz, St. Paul, MN; Mike Schwartz, Sebeka, MN; Julia Schwartz, Akeley, MN; Eloise Hoefs, Wadena, MN; Laura Schwartz, Sebeka, MN; Thirty-one Grandchildren and Nineteen Great-Grandchildren; Sisters, Norma Gudreau and Maxine Langille, both of Presque Isle, ME; and Marjorie Brown of Easton, ME. She is preceded in death by her sons, Martin Alan and Scott Ray Schwartz; her mother and father; nine brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, Minnesota from 5-8 pm. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 4:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, Sebeka, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior to the Service. Active Casketbearers are Clarice's Grandsons: Ryan Schwartz, Adam Harrington, Scott Harrington, Austin Johnson, Christopher Hoefs, and Anthony Duel. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Clarice's Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Sebeka, MN.
