Elvin Gerald Immonen, age 70, of Menahga, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his home. He was born March 25, 1946 in Shell River Township to Charles and Hilma (Katainen) Immonen. Elvin Graduated from Menahga high school in 1964, and worked as a welder. In 1966, Elvin Joined the United States army and served his country overseas in the Vietnam War. Elvin was a lifetime member of the VFW and was proud of his service to his country. Elvin enjoyed many hobbies including snowmobiling, four wheeling, riding his motorcycle, and singing karaoke. He excelled at mechanics and enjoyed fixing many tractors, cars, and trucks. Elvin loved to see all that Minnesota had to offer and would drive countless miles running errands for others or to visit family and friends. He always held his family and friends close to his heart and would do anything to help another. Elvin always had a smile on his face and a great sense of humor; his amazing spirit will forever be missed. Elvin is Survived by his sister Joanne Schumacher of Bloomington, MN; his brother Jerry Immonen of Menahga, MN; his brother Eldon (Ann) Immonen of Wadena, MN; three nieces, Pamela Schumacher, Angela (Mike) Eull, and Rebecca (Eric) Immonen-Sage; two great nephews Emmett and Isaac Eull; as well as many close friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Charles and Hilma Immonen, Brother Edsel Immonen, and Brother in law Henry Schumacher. A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN, who is in charge of the arrangements. A celebration of life luncheon will immediately follow the service at The Huntersville Outpost Bar and Grill. Honorary Pallbearers include anyone who called him “friend”.
