Carl Aaron Ostlund

Carl Aaron Ostlund, age 98, of Menahga, MN formerly of Sebeka, MN died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Carl was born to Peter and Clara (Astrum) Ostlund on January 4, 1918 in Rockwood Township where he was raised and attended District 41 School through the 8th grade. Carl bought his Uncle Charlie’s share of the family farm in 1947. In 1957 he bought the balance of the land, machinery and cattle from his parents. Besides dairy cattle, Carl raised sheep and beef cattle. In 1976 he sold the dairy cows to Danny Graba. Carl married Leah Thomas on March 31 1973 they were married until her death in 1999. Carl was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. He served on many boards including Church, Credit Union, Coop Store, Farmers Union and Soil and Water. He also enjoyed the activities at the Senior Citizens Center. In 2001 he sold the farm but continued to live there until 2002 when he moved into an apartment in Sebeka. In January 2012 he moved into Woodside Manor in Menahga. Carl is survived by three sisters, Hazel Quale, Helen Johnson and Gladys Graba, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, on infant brother, a younger brother Clifton and his wife Leah. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2016 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN. Interment will be at Sebeka West Cemetery.
