David Frederick Emil Marjamaa, 74, of Menahga, died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at his home. David was born July 27, 1941 in Wadena MN to Emil and Augusta (Golnick) Marjamaa. He graduated from Menahga High School in 1959 and worked with sugar beets until he was drafted into the Army on January 20, 1964. He was a combat engineer in the Vietnam conflict. He was honorably discharged on January 17, 1966. He moved back to the farm in Menahga and farmed with his dad and brothers. September 28, 1974, he married Donna Longfors and they made their home at the farm in Menahga. David and Donna had 3 children, Greg, Lynn and Andrew. David was engaged in farming most of his life. You could always find him out in the field or in the barn milking his girls. His pride and joy was his family. He also loved his animals, walking the fields, farming, hunting, checking the crops, tinkering with things and home. David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna, his children Greg (Kathy), Lynn (James), and Andrew, grandchildren, Kaisa, Markus, Callen, Rodney and Kobe; brothers Harold, Alan, Wade, Otto; sisters Amy, Mary and Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Augusta; brother Eldon and sister Nancy. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, April 7, 2016 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with prayer service at 7:30 PM Visitation will continue on hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 8, 2016 at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Mary Hanninen will service as organist. Lonnie Schmidt and Pastor Steven A. Bruer will provide special music. Active Casketbearers will be Andrew Marjamaa, Gregory Marjamaa, Wade Marjamaa, James Hogan, John Golnick and Jonathan Large. Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post 6206 of Menahga, MN will provide military honors. Inurnment will be at Alajoki Cemetery at a later date.
