Ruth Isabelle Huntington

Ruth Isabelle Huntington age 87 of Sebeka, MN died on Wednesday morning January 20, 2016 at her home in Wadena Co., MN. Ruth was born on March 8, 1928 in Parkers Prairie, MN to Jason and Fransis (Beedle) Allyn. She grew up in Parkers Prairie where she attended country school. She later met and married Samuel Huntington on April 9, 1949 in Eagle Bend, MN. Ruth and Samuel moved to Elk River where she worked for machine shops. Two children were born to this union, a son James and daughter Karen. After their children were out of school, Ruth and Samuel moved to Sebeka where they lived for over forty-one years. They enjoyed being near their children and their families and Ruth stayed busy cleaning at Thelen’s in Park Rapids, MN and at the Menahga Clinic, she also was a Home Health Aid. Ruth kept her yard clean and mowed, she enjoyed going to the Casino with her daughter Karen and she loved watching and feeding her birds that came to the bird feeder. Ruth loved to watch her grandkids growing up on the farm. She also enjoyed deer hunters coming during deer hunting season. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, her parents, one sister, Violet, five brothers, Henry, Chester, Floyd, Sidney, and August, two sisters-in-law Marge and Sarah, two brothers-in-law Harold and Ted, and one son-in-law, Terry. Ruth will be missed by her son, James (Shirley) Huntington of Sebeka, MN; her daughter, Karen Kotila of Menahga; sister, Vivian Anderson of Breckenridge, MN; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM Sebeka United Methodist Church in Sebeka, MN with Pastor Steven Koehne officiating. Jayne Koskiniemi will serve as organist. Soloist will be Marci Sabin singing “When I get to where I’m going” and “Where no one stands alone.” Honorary pallbearers are all of her nieces and nephews Active Casketbearers include Larry Huntington, Ronald Brasel, Aaron Wierimaa, Levi Allen, Jason Allen, and Jesse Allen. Interment will be at Parkers Prairie Cemetery in Parkers Prairie, MN.
