Charles Carroll Carlson was born on June 9, 1943 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Anton and Florence Carlson. At the age of 81, Charles lost his battle to lung cancer on January 10, 2016 while in a nursing home in Farmington. Charles, affectionately called Charley, grew up in Sebeka. The family moved to St. Paul when he was still a young boy. He served in the Navy on the USS Baltimore during the Korean War and was on the Honor Guard for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953. Charley was married to Beverly Burington in 1955 and had two children. He remarried Mae Miller in 2001 and together they have a blended family of 13 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles was an over-the-road truck driver for almost 40 years and in his retirement years he enjoyed working as a groundskeeper at Blueberry Pines Golf Course. He was a master woodworker, creating and selling custom wood art for many years. Charles and Mae spent their winters in La Feria, Texas where they developed many close relationships. There will be memorial service for Charley at the Event Center in Sebeka on January 30 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. All his family and friends are welcome to celebrate his life.
