Jean "Dolly" Dissmore of Menahga, MN peacefully went to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 12th, 2015. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Dolly was born "Jean Dorothy Biorn", on September 2nd, 1929 to Otto and Helen (McIntosh) Biorn in North Minneapolis, MN. This is where she and her seven siblings were raised. Dolly was a graduate of North High School. As a young woman she worked a variety of jobs in Minneapolis. Dolly married Merle Dissmore on August 28th, 1953, in North Minneapolis. There, she and Merle raised their young family while working full time in accounting and secretarial positions. In 1968 they moved to the Menahga/Sebeka area where she continued working in those fields. She served as a Menahga City Council member for eight years. Dolly also prepared income taxes for over 30 years. Spare time was rare as she spent time volunteering for many organizations including; Green Pine Acres Nursing Home, Menahga Food Shelf, and the Menahga United Methodist Church. Dolly loved spending time with her family. Special times included; Grandma Camp, playing cards, attending the grandchildren’s activities, floating the river, and just keeping the coffee on for anyone who stopped by to visit. Dolly's hobbies included golfing, gardening, Texas Hold’em Tournaments, baking pies and of course, her famous Christmas bread, "Julekage". Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merle, daughter, Tina Dissmore Nayak, three brothers, Warren Biorn, Don Biorn, Dick Biorn, one sister, Janice Long, and great grandson Layne Peterson. She is survived by her sisters, Virginia Morris of Toronto Canada and Carol Spriggs of Big Lake, MN; one brother, Bob (Justine) Biorn of Brooklyn Park, MN, her two sons, Chris (Donna) Dissmore and Dick (Norma) Dissmore of Menahga, 2 daughters, Mary (Don) Duberowski of Motley and Jean Dissmore of Menahga, and son-in-law Prakash Nayak of Fremont, CA; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends. Visitation will be 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday, December 17th, at the Sebeka United Methodist Church in Sebeka, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 18th, 2015, at the Sebeka United Methodist Church in Sebeka, MN. Interment will be at Shell City Cemetery.
