Sylvia Elizabeth Marjama

Sylvia Elizabeth Marjama, 85 of Sebeka, MN, passed away at Tri-county Hospital on November 28, 2015. Sylvia was born on May 1, 1930 to Andrew and Lydia Martin in Minneapolis, MN. In her younger years the family moved to Menahga. She worked at a bank in Minneapolis before returning to Menahga where she met and married, Edwin Marjama, on September 23, 1950. One daughter was born to this union. After Edwin returned from the Service, they eventually moved to Nimrod for a short time before finally residing in Sebeka all these years. Sylvia worked for some years at Sebeka Lumber before getting a job at Sebeka High School for many years. She had enjoyed retirement. She loved working in her flower gardens, watching Twins Baseball, and Vikings Football. She used to love doing crossword puzzles until her sight deteriorated. She was a life member of the Berg Nylund Post 456 and life time member of the Menahga VFW Auxiliary. She will be sadly missed by her only daughter Karen (Russ) Weappa of Sebeka; her 3 grandchildren Brian (Jamie) Weappa of St Cloud, MN; Matthew Weappa and Michael (Shelly Weappa from Wadena; 4 great grandchildren Zoey, Isaac, Leland and Nora; her sister Elma (Edsel) Huotari; 2 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin in 1998, her parents Andrew and Lydia, brothers Eddie, Chuck, Ray, John, and sisters Laila and Toni. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Menahga City Cemetery.
