Marie Eleanor Hendrickson

Marie Eleanor Hendrickson, age 61, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Marie was born to George and Virginia (Wild) Haapala on February 27, 1954 in Camrose, Alberta, Canada. At age 13, Marie moved with her family to Atlantic Mine, Michigan where she graduated from Jeffers High School. Marie moved to Menahga and was united in marriage to Russell E. Hendrickson on October 4, 1975. They farmed and raised their family near Menahga. For the past 15 years, Russell and Marie owned and operated Rose Haven Assisted Living. Marie enjoyed quilting and spending time with family at their lake home. Marie is preceded in death by her infant son Darin, father George, and brothers Michael and Keith. Marie is survived by her husband Russell; five children, Lisa (Tim) Salmen of Osage; Kara (Jon) Sheffer of Howell, MI; Matthew (Mari) Hendrickson of Menahga; Beth (Edwin) Heltunen of Menahga; Carl Hendrickson of Fowlerville, MI; nineteen grandchildren; mother, Virginia Haapala of Menahga; siblings, Anna (David) Simonson; Maxine (Clayton) Ylioja, David (Pat) Haapala, all residing in Canada; Peter (MaryJane) Haapala of Menahga; Timothy (Mary) Haapala of Menahga; Karen (Elmer) Skoog of Laveen, AZ; Philip Haapala; Yvonne (James) Skoog; Lawrence Haapala; Diane (Steve) Skoog, all of Menahga; and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM Sunday October 11, 2015 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 12, 2015 at Runeberg Apostolic Lutheran Church in rural Menahga, MN. Interment will be at Runeberg Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery.
