Edwin Ensio Patson

Edwin Ensio Patson age 98, of Menahga, MN died Monday, August 17, 2015 at his home in Shell River Township. Edwin was born to Gust and Anna (Mattson) Patson on February 12, 1917 in Menahga. He grew up on the family farm near Blueberry Lake and attended a country school to the 8th grade and then went into the fur trading business. Edwin married Elma K. Nevala on May 4, 1940. He entered the Army on February 16, 1943 at Fort Snelling, MN and was deployed to Germany with the 70th Armored Division during worked War II. He was honorably discharged on October 5, 1945. He returned to Menahga and started Patson Bait Co. and also was in the Christmas Tree Farming Business and raised Rainbow Trout. He was married to Eileen Corrick of Grand Rapid, MN and they spent their retirement years living in Minnesota and Texas. Edwin was an avid elk and deer hunter and enjoyed gardening and had various other hobbies. Edwin was a lifetime member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. Edwin is survived by his daughter Doris Hendrickson (Leonard) of Bull Head City, AZ; two sons, Donald Patson (Phyllis) of Menahga, MN; Dennis Patson of Bull Head City, AZ; one step-daughter, Vickie Nelson (Virgel) of Grand Rapids, MN; one sister, Esther Mitchell (Alfred) of Florida; one brother, Elmer Patson of Anchorage, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Elma, second wife Eileen, two sisters, one brother and one grandchild. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN with Rick Salmela officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Active Casketbearers are Ronald Kimball Rueben Patson, Ernest Patson, Jim Kangas, Don Issac and Keith Issac. Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post #6206 of Menahga, MN will provide Military Honors. Interment will be at Menahga City Cemetery.
