Bruce John Petersen

Bruce John Petersen was born on October 27, 1942, in Wadena, Minnesota at the Wesley Hospital. He was the son of Elva John and Alice Mae (Farr) Petersen of North Germany Township, Wadena County. He died at the age of 72 on August 3, 2015 at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. On October 2, 1965, he married Joan (Ehlers) in Hector. They were married for 23 years. He lived in numerous cities. He lived in Minneapolis for 20 years before moving back to the Wadena area. He lived at Humphrey Manor in Wadena. Bruce worked at various jobs included returning to help on his family’s farm. He worked at the Sheltered Workshop in Fergus Falls; packaged candy in a factory in Hopkins and worked for Safeway Hydraulics in Chaska making couplers as a driller for farm tractors. He retired on September 13, 2004 after working for 27 years. Bruce enjoyed collecting toy tractors and pens and pencils. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in 1975 and his mother on November 11, 2002. Survivors include his sister Lynne (David) Kapphahn of Bertha; nephew Kirby (Laurie) Kapphahn, and children McKayla and Mercedes; and niece Kelly (Chad) Camacho; along with a host of friends and other relatives. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM August 7, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in North Germany Township with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Raymond Hendrickson will officiate. Faye Mavis will serve as organist. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, MN. Active Casketbearers will be all of his family and friends. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in North Germany Township.
