Kathryn (Kathy) Carol Ahlf, of Menahga, passed away peacefully into the arms of her beloved Jesus on July 25, 2015, one day after her 84th birthday. Kathy loved her Lord, her family and her many friends. Her love of Jesus included a self-directed and lifelong journey of religious study. At United Methodist Church, she was a lay speaker, led bible studies, taught Sunday School and was a member of her church choir for several years. She was an avid volunteer in her community for a variety of social service organizations including the Ladies Auxiliary at the Menahga VFW. Kathy and her husband, Wally, were the proud recipients of the Wadena County Volunteer of the Year award. She loved attending family events (most recently her granddaughter’s wedding and brother’s 85th birthday/family reunion) and grandchildren’s school events, gardening, spending time at the cabin, Sunday drives on country roads, needlepoint, and card games. Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Waldemar (Wally); daughter Sue; and two infant babies. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Karen Dyrhaug, Denise (Bob) Malmgren, Traci Abbott, Sandy Mcjunkin and Joy Cantrell; and sons, Bruce (Terry) Ahlf, Mark Ahlf and Martin (Laura) Ahlf; and her brother, Ernie Strandberg. She will also be remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Sebeka United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven Koehne officiating. Interment will be 2:30 PM August 3, 2015 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Minneapolis, MN.
