She boarded with family friends in Menahga during the school week for her freshman year. After that, Menahga provided bus service starting her sophomore year until graduation. Louise would sing and play her guitar for many events during her high school years. After high school, Louise moved to Chicago to join her sisters, Alma and Marie, where they worked in the war effort for Douglas Aircraft building airplanes. Being of small stature, Louise would be inside the wing of the planes bucking rivets as one of many or our country's “Rosie the Riveters.” Louise remained in Chicago after the war working in civil service for the Fifth Army Headquarters of Chicago. In Normal, IL she worked for Country Life Insurance as an accountant until retirement. Louise married Robert Jannusch at Bethany Lutheran Church on July 27, 1957. They had been married nearly 52 years when Robert passed away in 2009. Louise and Robert lived in Chicago, later moving to Normal, Illinois. After retirement they moved to Menahga. Shortly after Robert’s passing Louise moved to Woodside Manor, and recently to Green Pine Acres. Louise was member of Christ Lutheran Church in Normal, IL and First English Church of Menahga. She was avid gardener, quilted, loved to travel, and led an active lifestyle. Athletic and fun loving, she bowled in a league in Normal, IL, helping her team win several city championships. The last of her generation, Louise will be remembered for her sense of humor, love for her family, and her strength in the face of hardships. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters and their spouses. Louise is survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends who will greatly miss her.
